Ms. Vanessa Ford, Think Tank:  I grew up the daughter of an elementary principal and a music teacher and always knew that I would follow in my parents’ footsteps.  I have a B.A. in Psychology from Bates College in Maine and a M.A. in Teaching: Elementary Education from Trinity DC. As a classroom teacher, I taught Middle School science, 3rd and 5th grades.  In my 7th year of teaching, I moved into an instructional coach role, helping other teachers develop their craft.  Two years ago, after moving to the neighborhood with my own family, I fell in love with Maury and contacted Ms. Albert-Garvey for open teaching positions. In 2011, I joined Maury elementary as the Think Tank Teacher and Science Coordinator. In this role, I have had the amazing opportunity to bring inquiry-based learning to all students and allow them to experience the sciences in new ways. This role is especially rewarding because of the focus on ensuring that each child’s “smarts” are developed and that they strengthen their Habits of Mind to become great thinkers and problem solvers.  Families and friends are welcome to visit http://maurythinktank.blogspot.com at any time to see the great learning happening in Think Tank!
